Hey we are a group of students at Glasgow Univeristy and we’re going to write a game for our team project course. While doing some research for the project we stumbled upon your game, we loved it and your work inspired are so much ! Basically our game is an educational game about passwords where the main character walks around a spaceship and goes through different doors and sets passwords on the doors. The better the password is the longer it takes the enemies to break through the doors and in result the longer it takes them to catch the main character. We want our game to look like a classic RPG game, just like yours. Could you tell us what tools, programs and programming languages you used while creating Pipe Animus? Any hints? We’ve never programmed such a thing before therefore any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Sounds like a fun project! Here’s the tools I’m using:

      • For the code side of things, I’m using the MelonJS engine. It’s an awesome engine but it’s also a little in flux and doesn’t do much of the work of making an RPG and you’ll need to be a pretty good javascript programmer.
      • For graphics, I’m using the Gimp! It’s a great graphics program but you’ll need some tweaks to make it really good at pixel art.
      • On the sound side of things, I wrote the music using Sunvox.
      • for map building I’m using Tiled, a really great 2d map tool that works with a whole lot of engines.
      • Lastly, for scripting events, I’m using a custom program I made.

That’s not a super detailed answer but that’s the outline. Feel free to email me at and I’ll go into detail on any aspect you’d like. Good luck! :)
